| haha i'll explain before you click the link
some guy thought he'd be a genius and ask for answers for a past paper that we're NOT supposed to have on ALL the university's finance discussion boards because our finance course recycles a lot of questions for finals. What followed made my day hahaha.

| Here is my rant about my lecturer that i put into the UNSW CATEI form for actuarial 2002 (probability and stats for actuaries). For those that don't kno, CATEI forms are evaluation forms you fill out for each subject/lecturer/tutor.
He seems oblivious to the students' suffering in this course. He used last year's lecture slides without any alteration and since they used the Rice textbook and we used the Wackerly one, looking back on lectures and learning from the textbook became frustrating. He often did not upload the lecture notes until the morning of the lecture and as I have ACTL 2001 in the morning 10-12 and I have to leave the house at 7am in the morning which made it IMPOSSIBLE for me to print the lecture notes out. I find it highly unfair for us to go to uni and have to sit through his lecture and NOT HAVE ANY NOTES (made me feel dirty because I am a well prepared person for my other lectures). I REALLY REALLY tried to like Sachi and this worked for the first few weeks and I did quite well in the first quiz (2nd =]) and even though the first exam was too easy it didn't mean he had to make the 2nd exam so GODDAMNED hard. Never ONCE have I failed an exam of any sort. The fact that I got above average did not console me. SINCE WHEN was a test with an average of 27.3 and a standard deviation of 15 acceptable? I mean seriously, making an exam that hard in the first place demoralised us to the point of making us question whether ANYTHING we remembered was correct. NOT ONLY THAT, the last two questions had errors in them and they made up 40 marks out of 100 in the exam. THEN he turns around and says it's OUR fault for not pointing it out. I’m sorry, but if you make an exam so POINTLESSLY hard (a hard exam normally differentiates the group but instead you got a range of marks with a lower standard deviation compared to the first quiz) you can’t expect us to question the lecturer who is “almighty” and somewhat condescending. Another complaint is about the quiz time. Sachi cannot have properly thought that 2002 was the ONLY subject in the world that we were doing. He made the quiz on the same days as our 2001 quizzes (if we weren’t under enough pressure already) AND the timing of it was at the same time as my 1613 lecture (ANOTHER course I have to do to gain accreditation). I don’t believe I was the only actuary with a finance lecture at this time. If I remember correctly, Sachi only made exceptions for people who had an accounting tute (required attendance whereas my lecture was ignored). I sometimes get the feeling that Sachi is just teaching us for 3 hours a week and not caring about the course for the rest of the week. I know Sachi is currently completing his doctorate but COME ON. Which brings me to the issues I had with the assignment. The assignment was not properly finalised until the week BEFORE it was due. I was about to report him to the school when I read up on the assignment guidelines where it stated that if the assignment wasn’t made into a final copy at least 1 week beforehand, the lecturer should be reported to the school. By this time, I was SO frustrated with Sachi that I HOPED that he wouldn’t complete it on time so I COULD report him. The questions in the assignment were bogus as well. In NO WAY were some of the questions related to our course. I didn’t learn ANYTHING from the article written by Gosset and while I appreciate what he did, I don’t think it warranted the essay I had to write. 25 pages of almost incomprehendable math, I had to rely on the ENGLISH in the article to make any sense. I felt so helpless in this course because my tutor could only help me with one problem at a time (not taking anything away from Stephen, he was a BRILLIANT tutor, he’s so smart). Sachi seemed unreachable, we were intimidated in lectures in the constant fear of Sachi blowing us off if we asked a question that didn’t warrant an intelligent answer (from his point of view) from him. Too often did we see a person ask a legitimate question that we did not know but Sachi simply thought it was too easy and said so quite severely.
OK, so i wasted my time writing 700 words instead of studying for Finance and Jap on thurs. Oh well, it's a load off my chest.....ffs
